Newsletter

Jeremy and Noah’s Weekly Newsletter
Oct. 18, 2015

It's hard to believe that it's time for Parent-Teacher Conferences already!  Please make sure to double-check your calendar for your appointment time.  Conferences are fairly short - 25 minutes.  We'll talk about how your child is doing socially, academically, and behaviorally.  We'll also set some goals for their future in 3rd grade.  I look forward to talking with each of you!

Volunteer Opportunities

If you have not returned the Volunteer Survey that was passed out on Back to School Night, please do so as soon as you can.  We’ve only received them from about half of you, and there are several jobs needing to be filled.  Below are a couple of upcoming needs:

  • Longhouse Construction Helpers: We are going to start creating replicas of Chinook longhouses this week (shhhh...don’t tell the kids yet!), and I would love to have some extra adults on hand for the following days/times: Tuesday, Oct. 21st 9:15-10:15 and/or 10:30-11:30.
  • Salmon Tank Helpers: Our salmon eggs will arrive this week. We need a small team of folks who will be able to come in at drop-off once or twice a week to help kids clean the tank and measure water quality. You will be trained, so don't worry about not knowing anything about raising salmon!

Ask Your Third Grader…

  • What was your class’s listening goal this past week? Why is listening so important?
  • Tell me about your trip to Laurelhurst.  What did you discover about using your sense of hearing?
  • Tell me about your Laurelhurst Sit Spot.
  • What have you learned about the Chinook People that has surprised you? How did this change your understanding about the first people of this area?

Thanks, and enjoy the rest of your week!
