The Potlatch!

 At the potlatch there was a band called ninja foot, They were from the hot springs tribe. They played a big drum buffalo hide.  They brought in a hoop dancer their dance was amazing!

After that we were put into groups of ten to twelve then we went to places like a Feast,Art,Stories,More drumming and games. After that we did a swap for our Native art after that it was the end of the day. It went by so fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spirit Quest

What is a Spirit Quest?

A Northwest Native American ritual that they do when they are twelve. They go into the forest to find they're spirit animal. An animal that will tell you what you will do things like a Whaler,Wood carver and fishermen etc.

Our class did a Spirit Quest. we all went outside for five minutes  and waited. It was cold! Many of us saw our spirit animals, but some did not.

Salmon Eggs

Salmon eggs are pink. Salmon eat bugs. Salmon can't live in dirty or hot water.Salmon die after they lay there eggs. They can swim up waterfalls! We will keep them in tell they become Salmon fry.
The eggs turn white when they die.

Laurelhurst

It was rainy and gross. BUT!!!! Super fun.

We counted ducks!! The first time we counted 15-85 ducks - not very good.  Then we came up with a method and counted 42. We had a awesome day!!!

cathlapotle

Cathlapotle was really fun. We got to go into a longhouse [Also known as a plankhouse]

We also got to learn about native plants. Heres a couple of facts for you.

Fact 1. Did you know that a certain type of blackberry can be boiled to make medicine?

Fact 2. Did you know that if you take planks off a Western Red Cedar tree it will keep growing?
